Where content is your marketing, not your product

You just wanted to market your business, not moonlight as a content creator

Say It Again StudioEst. 2025 · Pilbara, Western Australia

Most content courses are written as if you want to become a content creator. They're built for someone whose whole job is planning and posting, which is why they rarely last in a small business with a real workload.

True, there's no escaping content marketing if you want to build a solid online presence. But I'm here to help you filter out, as I figure it out in real time, what's quick win nonsense designed to keep you hooked and coming back for the next thing, and what's actually worth your time and effort.

Who reads this

A room full of people with something else to sell

  • makers
  • writers
  • service providers
  • consultants
  • coaches
  • digital product creators
  • physical product sellers

Service, product, coaching or downloadables. The business model changes from reader to reader. What you share is the capacity: a full workload, a family, a life, and content made around all of it on a normal Tuesday night.

So you've probably tried the popular advice. Some of it solid. Some of it assuming a team, an audience you can already pull data from, and uninterrupted hours you don't have. And when you can't keep up after 3 weeks. Well, you're made to feel like you just didn't want it that bad.

Maybe you've tried outsourcing or leaning on AI to keep up, and what comes back never quite sounds like you, so you end up doing it yourself in the end anyway.

How this works

The ideas this zine keeps coming back to

Your limits are the brief
A plan has to hold up on your worst Tuesday as well as your best Monday. Start from the week you actually have, then decide what fits inside it.
Decisions first
The work here is deciding what to say, where to say it, and what to ignore. Hook formulas and editing tricks have been covered to death elsewhere.
Your own evidence
Build your own data, and read your numbers against your own reference range. This will tell you more about the decisions you need to make in your business marketing than another account's results ever can.
Say it again
Find the few things worth saying, then keep saying them until people connect them with you. Repetition is how you get an idea to stick.
Earn your easy
Anything worth doing starts hard and gets easier with time. Ease you built yourself fits your business and is very hard for anyone else (and their AI) to copy.

Who's writing this

From the Chief Context Officer

Jo Fitzgerald, Chief Context Officer of Say It Again Jo Fitzgerald · Chief Context Officer

I'm an elder millennial. A scientist, a parent with a day job, and proud mature postgraduate with a certificate in digital communication strategy.

I love creative content. I also have next to no spare time. So I have to get very creative with the knowledge, the tools and the decisions I make to get the most out of my efforts to build an online presence. And so far, trying to fit myself into other people's blueprints of "what works" has failed me miserably.

Perhaps you can relate?

This is me taking everything I've learnt from university, from my favourite online people, and from my many, many side quests, pulling it all together like the most over-researched report I've ever done, and turning it into something remarkable.

I'm going anyway. Come with me if you'd like.

On the record

What's behind the zine

  • Career As a trained scientist, I love a good hypothesis and bring that to marketing strategy and data interpretation. Postgraduate studies in Digital Communication Strategies and marketing, adding to the years of affiliate blogging and content repurposing I've been doing for other small businesses since 2018.
  • Ideas that fuel the brand The Tuesday Problem You plan on Sunday, start strong on Monday, then a normal bad day arrives and the plan collapses. One size fits all plans were never built for your worst Tuesday. Earn your easy Hard at first, easier with time, and yours once it's built. Time-earnt lessons are hard for AI to replicate with any kind of authenticity. Reference ranges What normal looks like for an account your size, so not going 'viral' in 3 days of posting doesn't mean you flopped. Low capacity marketing Marketing designed around the time and energy you actually have.

The destination

Departs today. Arrives in 90 days.

Right now I'm the owner of a somewhat neglected micro Instagram account. Ninety days from now, the destination is a brand with content marketing that's gaining momentum, and the first leads putting their hands up for what I have to offer.

And the one measure I'm holding myself to: everything I share with you is done with the idea that you can apply it to your own content goals, and keep that part of your marketing in proportion to what you actually do in your business.
